Special-Shape Gears
Operation: Turn the handle to drive the driving wheel and observe the motion of the irregular gear transmission mechanism. Function Overview: The exhibit consists of various irregular gears, including four types: oval, triangular, square, and pentagonal. It demonstrates the meshing transmission of various irregular gears. Scientific Principle: The tooth profile of irregular gears is the same as that of circular gears, also in involute form. Two gears of different shapes, with their centers fixed, can fully mesh and rotate freely. Any point on the gear rotates through the same angle in the same time, but the linear velocity at any point on the gear edge is different. By utilizing the property of different linear velocities along the gear edge, we can use irregular gears to drive other objects to produce different speeds and motion trajectories within a set time.
