Bone-Conduction Headphone Principle

Science Caravan · Educational & Health

Exhibit Dimensions: Transport dimensions: 540×440×640mm, Display dimensions: 540×440×1450mm. Exhibit Composition: Composed of an ABS plastic molded cabinet, ABS plastic molded pedestal, ABS milky white plastic molded operation countertop with color silk-screen flip-up instruction board, leakage protector, conduction rods of different materials, music player, resonance speaker, etc. Press the "Start" button, then choose a participation method: 1. Select a conduction rod, place one end at the center of the disc in the interaction area, and the other end close to your ear, and listen carefully; 2. Place your elbow at the center of the disc in the interaction area, cover your ears with your palm, and you can hear sound. It adopts an electromechanical interactive form to experience the sound effect of bone conduction headphones and understand their technical principles. Scientific Principle: 1. How does sound reach your ears? 2. Do different rods produce the same sound? Sound is produced by object vibration, and its propagation requires a medium. Any solid, liquid, or gas can transmit sound, and finally transmit it to the auditory nerve in the cochlea. The auditory nerve transmits the signal to the brain, and then we hear sound. In the exhibit, the rods are made of different materials, and the sounds heard are not exactly the same. Another method is to transmit sound to the cochlea through the bones of the arm and skull. When we speak ourselves, the sound we hear is mainly transmitted by the skull; when listening to others speak, sound vibrates through the air, causing the eardrum to vibrate.
